VIRGIL MICEK

Virgil came from Etwood, Kansas where the family farmed. He met his wife in Trinidad, Colorado. Her maiden name was Olivo and her father was a local coal miner.

They bought Gordon's Music from Gordon Bates on May 1, 1970. Gordon Bates was a well known saxophonist and band leader in the area for many years. He died in February, 1981. The business was located at 162 East Main Street. In February, 1979 they bought their present building at 130 East Main Street.

They have raised two children. Valerie graduated from Trinidad Catholic High School and became a cheerleader at Trinidad State Junior College. Their youngest is Troy and has started Headstart. Each year they select a deserving high school band student for one of their TSJC scholarships.
