VIRGIL MICEK
Virgil
came from Etwood, Kansas where the family farmed. He met
his wife in Trinidad, Colorado. Her maiden name was Olivo
and her father was a local coal miner.
They
bought Gordon's Music from Gordon Bates on May 1, 1970.
Gordon Bates was a well known saxophonist and band leader
in the area for many years. He died in February, 1981.
The business was located at 162 East Main Street. In February,
1979 they bought their present building at 130 East Main
Street.
They
have raised two children. Valerie graduated from Trinidad
Catholic High School and became a cheerleader at Trinidad
State Junior College. Their youngest is Troy and has started
Headstart. Each year they select a deserving high school
band student for one of their TSJC scholarships.
