Rubye Mae Bowles, longtime Trinidad resident, passed away in Denver on October 9, 2003 after a lengthly illness. Rubye was born October 28, 1924 in Trinidad to Bertram T. and Lauretta Kane Robinson. She grew up in Raton and graduated from Raton High School. She was a graduate of Denver University and taught music and business at Primero High School prior to having children. She was united in marriage to Joseph W. Bowles, Jr. on August 22, 1949, who she was married 52 years to prior to his passing. Rubye was an accomplished musician and seamstress. She was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church in Trinidad and was a member of the choir for many years.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Joe, son Brent, brothers Bertram Robinson and Elmer Marsh, parents, and nephew Bert Marsh. She will be lovingly missed by daughter Laurine (Michael) Mercier of Littleton, CO, grandchildren Matthew, Justin and Bethany, nieces Hope Brunelli of Trinidad and Carol Reinhard of Texas, cousins Charlene Spencer of Raton, Dale McDonald of Weston, Ronnie McDonald of Kansas, Nadine McKeown of California, and Betty Ann McGee of Illinois and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services for Rubye will be Thursday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Friends and family will meet after services at the Methodist Church on Broom Street. Anyone desiring to make a memorial donation may do so to the United Methodist Church of Trinidad.

The family of Rubye Mae Bowles has entrusted arrangements to the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
