Monument Lake

Does anyone know of a website or somewhere where I can reserve a campsite/cabin/hotel room at Monument Lake or at least get some information on Monument lake. I keep seeing NOrth Lake but can't find anything on Monument lake. Thank you in advance for your help.:D

What happened to the rock that stuck out of the lake? It is not there anymore.

It fell over a few years ago. I remember while in Boy Scouts we would row a boat out there and swim back to earn merit badges. I still haven't gotten used to that monument being gone. I miss the buffalo that used to roam the lake too.

Wow! That rock was there for ever. It is amazing that it fell over.I wonder what cause it to fall?. it does not look the same but stiil nice to spend time there.

I was told but don't know it as fact that it just toppled over but I have also heard scuttle that it was a small earthquake. Maybe someone out there in the forum really knows.

In August be ready for all and any weather and watch out for the bears. August can be a busy month for feeding bears. You shouldn't have trouble but if you tent camp be sure to keep your food away from the tents. It is a great little lake any time of the year.

yes, be very cautious of the bears. My father owns land about 19 miles up highway 12 from Trinidad going towards Monument lake and there are bears there. Never really had a big problem with them, but he has seen them so be very careful.
