    Berwind/ludlow circa 1910

I am currently doing research for a book that I am writing that takes place in the Berwind/Ludlow area in 1910 to 1914.
I would like to hear from anyone who had family that lived in that area at that time, or anyone with information about the original layout of the towns. Family photos or first hand tales would be of great interest.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at [email protected]. Please place the words BERWIND or LUDLOW in the subject field.

My great grandfather wrote a poem about the Ludlow Massacre--it was
in Spanish and we have had it translated--we have his death certificate saying he died in Valdez Colorado(in Las Animas County) and was burried in the Tijeras Cemetery--which has nothing online to verify or get further information such as his parents and so forth.
The poem tells a story of the strike and mentions a few names--Rafel Trujillo, Mother Valdez, Luis Kelley and Elias Ammons--the govenor at the time. If you have received any information that may assist us in finding any more information about my great grandfater--or would like further info from me please write.
    Thank you.

A friend brought me a book today that is titled: Colorado Heritage,
Winter 2004. It is pretty interesting & tells all about the Ludlow Massacre.

The PBS station in Denver did a show last night 1/3/06 on Colorado mines and talked to several local people about the Ludlow time and their family experiences and stories. It appears to have been taped several years ago and it showed old pictures of the mining community and the area. I think it was part of their Golden Reflections programs.

I will post here if I see it again. I tried to look on their Rocky Mountain PBS website but it was updated for programs today and I couldn't find the program we watched Jan 3.

Mr. Pierce, see my post in the General forum. The book mentioned has maps that show the layouts of the various coal camps. Good luck with your book.

If in your research you uncovered any information on Giacomo Toller, I would love to hear it. He was the owner of the land where Tollerburg mine was located. He is my husbands great grandfather.

If you can find a copy of the magazine named:
    Colorado Heritage
Winter 2004-2005 it has a lot of information on "Ludlow" in there.
