lost pictures

this is to anyone that can help me !
several months back I changed windows 98 to xp home,I thought I had all my pictures installed on cd.When I reinstalled the pictures they .were not all there.Can't find them anywhere in my pc.What can I do to retreive them if possible.

Can't make any promises in situations like yours, but it's not completely hopeless. Just recently, I managed to recover ALL of a client's lost data...around 17 gigs worth... after his hard drive was wiped, reformatted and Windows reinstalled. Unfortunately, it's not the sort of process I can just tell you how to do. Let me know if you'd like some help.

rtorrez I am not sure what all you have tried but I have found that the simple way is the best....when you upgraded from 98 did you format to NTFS or just upgrade in FAT32? If you didn't format to NTFS then the pictures are there safely tucked away in a folder for 98. Simply click start and then Search. Make sure that your search settings are set to search all files and folders including hidden and system files. Then type in the search bar.... (if you know the format they were saved in then that is what you would type to seach for...)if not... try typing in .jpg or .jpeg or .tiff or .doc or .pic or .bmp It is worth a couple of minutes to search for them. I agree fully with Fred and especially if you formatted the disk you will need professional help to retrieve them.
