Mary Jane "Shiny" (Chavez) Shupe, 67, passed away on May 19, 2006 at Select Specialty Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was born August 16, 1938 in Boncarbo, Colo. to Paul and Andrea (Torrez) Shannon. She graduated from Sopris High School.

Shiny married Wayne Shupe on July 14, 1990 at the Stonewall Community Church. She ran the Weston Supply Store for many years. She attended San Isadoro and Holy Trinity Catholic Churchs. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her life. Shiny had many, many friends who held special places in her heart and made fast friends with everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Richard Shannon, sister Lucille Shannon mothers-in-law, LaRae and Betty Gaskins.

Shiny is survived by husband Wayne Shupe, Weston; daughter Jennifer (Keith) Mantelli, Trinidad; son Ryan (Tina) Chavez, Trinidad; grandchildren Danielle and Kaitlyn Mantelli and Ty Chavez; ex-husband Felix Chavez, Weston; brothers and sisters, Anna Marie (Ernie) Abeyta, Pueblo; Theresa (Jerry) Murry, Red River, N.M., John T. Shannon, Boncarbo, Joan Shannon, Weston, Edna (Rudy) Jimenez, Santa Fe, N.M., Edward (Judy) Shannon, Boncarbo; and sister-in-law Marge Shannon, Pueblo; father-in-law Harley Gaskins, Trinidad; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gary Shupe, Moab, Utah, Lynn (Linda) Shupe, Spokane, Wash., Claudia Shupe, Moab, Jeannie (Mark) Luddington, Ogden, Utah, Laura Ann (Mark) Clayes, Pine Bluff, Wyo., Connie (Lee) Hoffman, Lincoln, Neb., Steve (Kathy) Gaskins, Brighton, Colo., Jerry Gaskins, Hotchkiss, Colo.; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces nephews and cousins.
