Robert E. Lee, age 91, died June 12, 2006 in Trinidad, CO. Bob died peacefully in his sleep at Mt. San Rafael Hospital.
Bob was born in Beaverfalls, PA, on February 26, 1915. He was the son of Charles and Mary Lee (Twadell). Bob moved to Trinidad when he was a boy. He was raised in Tolerburg and graduated from Trinidad High School in 1932. He married Dorothy Niccolli in 1941. He served his country in World War II as a member of the Army. He was proud of his time in the military service and talked of his involvement at the invasion of Normandy. He was an active and longtime member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Lodge. He served the community of Trinidad as a meat cutter, grocery boy, chef, business owner, baker, and friend to many. Bob and his brother Ray opened and operated the famous Lee's Bar B Q in the mid 1940's. His most recent success is Bob and Earl's Cafe in Trinidad. He was in the restaurant business for six decades. Bob also loved to golf, travel, and dance. Most of all he loved his family. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "BEEPS" ;He will be remembered for his generosity and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy and his parents and two brothers and two sisters.
His is survived by his daughters Virginia (Dan) Chaussee, Bismarck, ND and Roberta (Charlie) Brown, of Trinidad, son-in-law and business partner Earl Hurley, two granddaughters Heather Litterell and Alicia Hurley, three grandsons Michael, Kevin and Bob Chaussee; ten great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Barbara Lee, special niece and nephew Kay (Chuck) Bazanele of Trinidad, along with many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friend of 16 years Florence Morgan and her family.
His life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17 at 11 AM at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
