I'm curious if the Trinidad area is getting any rain since its been so dry this summer. What is the current fire danger rating for the area?

Throughout the 2nd half of June and so far in July we have had lots of rain. I think it has rained every day in the last 7 except for the 4th.
The only fire warning sign I saw recently (on the 4th) still showed Extreme fire danger, however.

Trinidad Fire Restrictions The governor has issued a statewide ban on open burning and fireworks for all state lands. There is currently a fire ban at Trinidad Lake. Wood and charcoal fires are prohibited. Gas grills are allowed. 7/6/2006

The Las Animas County Fire Marshal wants to remind people in Las Animas County that there is a county wide fire ban that is still in effect. Due to the extreme fire danger and drought, no burning is allowed. No burn permits will be allowed either. The state forest and national forest are also on burn bans and Trinidad Lake State Park is not allowing open campfires of any kind. Questions about the ban should be directed to the Las Animas County Fire Marshal or the respective fire district.

"None of the fire chiefs (in the county) are issuing burn permits," Casias said.
The resolution bans the sale and use of fireworks as long as the ban is in place. It also prohibits smoking "except within an enclosed vehicle or private building."

DB, have an update: Due to the recent rains, fire restrictions have been removed on all public lands in southern Colorado, including both the foothills area and San Luis Valley. Fire danger ratings are now significantly lower with afternoon and evening showers predicted through next week, however, if conditions dry out again in the weeks to come, fire restrictions could be imposed once again. Visitors to public lands are reminded that it is always illegal to use fireworks or to leave a campfire unattended on federal lands.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really glad to hear the rains are back. I'm not fond of droughts and fires. Hopefully the precip will continue.
