Pauline G. Torres, age 86, passed away on August 26. She was born on July 22, 1917 to Elfido and Rita Gomez in San Geronimo, NM. Pauline was married to Pete Torres on February 1, 1946 at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Cokedale.
For many years she was an artist member of the Trinidad Art League. Her beautiful art work (pastels, oils, watercolors, charcoal) have been purchased by people from all over the country and has been exhibited at the Mitchell and Corazon Art Galleries. She is famous for her renderings of historic buildings and churches in the Colorado and New Mexico areas. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved music (playing the piano and violin), crocheting, knitting and spoiling her cats. Pauline was a devoted Catholic, never missing her rosary every night. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Pete.
She is survived by her daughter, Eva L. Torres of Trinidad, sisters Mary (Nestor) Martinez of Trinidad, Dixie Ortiz of Deming, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation for Pauline will be Thursday, August 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be held on Friday, August 29 at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapel. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church with interment at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
