    Jon Simon - "Double Barrel"

With sadness and still in disbelief I'm letting the Forum Family know Jon (Double Barrel) died friday night in a car accident near Cokedale. From details at the scene it appeared he swerved in order to miss hitting a deer. He was killed instantly. Pete, my brother Randy and I had met with him prior to the accident. We never got to go fishing. In the short time I knew Jon I can honestly say he was a genuine guy, a good human being, a friend. I will miss him and pray for him and his family. Here is a copy of what appeared in the Pueblo Chieftain today:

    Trinidad
A one vehicle crash Saturday evening on Colorado 12 resulted in the death of a motorist 6 miles west of Trinidad.

Jon Joel Simon, 50, of Parker, lost control of his 2004 Nissan truck while traveling west and became airborne after the vehicle ran off the south side of the road and struck a delineator post. The truck came to rest upside down after rolling almost 200 feet down a steep embankment. Simon was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6:30 p.m.

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash. They do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor in the accident. Although Simon's truck was equipped with airbags, the did not deploy during the crash.

Char, I know men aren't "supposed to cry" but I have too. It's been a rough two days for me. Pete's not feeling well either. I think this has been a real shock to our systems.

Jon, I miss you buddy! I hope the fish are big up there! Life is short and unpredictable. Live it for today. In honor of Jon we must all attend the Stonewall Festival. He would like that.
Thanks RR guy...that is a great way to show our pal.

    A FISHERMAN'S PRAYER

I pray that I may live to fish
    Until my dying day

And when it comes to my last cast
    I then most humbly pray

When in the Lord's great landing net
    And peacefully asleep

That in his mercy I be judged
    BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP !

I think he would be big enough to keep. Prayers to his family and many friends.

Wayne, I do think it alright for men to cry. I have 2 shoulders & if anyone wants to cry on them feel free to do so.

It hurts so deeply to read this news. Just met him on the forum, but feel like I had met him in person. He will be missed. May he and The Almighty be fishing together now. Will have Him, his family, and the entire Forum Family in my prayers. We never know what GOD plans for us.
