Sadie Ortiz, a former Trinidad resident, passed away September 3, 2003 in Denver. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Nash Ortiz and two infant sons, Junior and Donald.
Sadie was born in Trinidad, Colorado, December 23, 1910. Her parents, Lucas and Martina Duran, brother Nash Duran and sisters Rose Gomez and Rafelita Montez preceded her in death.
She is survived by 5 daughters and 4 sons; George M. Ortiz, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Flora M. Trujillo, Chicago, Illinois, Martha B. Duran, Lakewood, Colorado, Linda A. Konecko, Thornton, Colorado, Josie S. Romero, Phoenix, Arizona, Leroy Z. Ortiz, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Samuel R. Ortiz, Colorado Springs, Colorado, James E. Ortiz, Brighton, Colorado and Kay L. Fiser, WheatRidge, Colorado.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Visitation took place on Sunday, September 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Service (Rosary) followed visitation at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, September 8, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Timothy Ortiz, Mark Ortiz, Matthew Ortiz, Ricky Romero, Ronnie Romero and Ryan Fiser. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Ortiz and all her grandchildren.
The family of Sadie Ortiz has entrusted arrangements to the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
