Duplicates and probably triplicates of pics

I take alot of digital pictures and download them to my computer. They are usually downloaded to a program (Camedia Master) that came with my camera. Sometimes they are downloaded to Adobe Photoshop Album Starter. Alot of the time I transfer or copy some of these to my pictures (for sending in emails, uploading to kodak gallery, or posting on the forum) I know that I have most of these pictures in more than one place on my computer so what I need to know is how do I check to see which pictures are duplicates and which are on only once and how to delete the duplicates to free up space on my computer. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.
Also, would you know of classes at the college or anyone else who gives classes so I could learn more about digital photography and the proper way to store pictures so I won't have this problem

CJo, Thanks for asking your question. There are a lot of ways to go about this. I am going to assume that you have Windows XP. There a lot of 3rd party programs that say they will find and help you delete duplicates. I have NEVER had any luck with any of them. If someone has please chime in. I would manualy do this. It will not be fast or easy. First you need to note where all the photos are on the PC. You can always do a search for .jpg and .bmp and delete the duplicates from inside the search window. I would be happy to give you some training on this. That I know of there are no digital classes at TSJC. Might be something for them to consider.[8D]

Hi Colo_Jo, Zonie63 here. I'm using a freebie called Picasa2 which I downloaded from Google. It gathered all my pics from every file where there was one. It has a lot of features that I haven't used yet, so it might be able to find pic duplicates for you. Check it out.
Top of the day to you!

Ok I went and downloaded it...took about 30 secs. on my Qwest High Speed connection...installed it...about 1 minute...It does offer a duplicate finder....open the program...click on TOOLS and then on EXPERIMENTAL...then choose Show Duplicate Files...It will show them in the left side pane and you can delete them from there as well. Thanks again ZONIE63
