Emilio cordova

I was wanting to know if anyone could help me find family information on Emilio Cordova. My grandfather was John Cordova married to Josephine Trujillo. John's parents were Emilio Cordova and Agueda(Agatha)Montoya. I cannot find anything going back further than Emilio Cordova. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Possible that this 1900 census is your Emilio Cordova. So far I haven't been able to find them in the 1880 Census for Colorado which would show their parents.

Marriage records exist for Antonia Maria Cordova and his two wives, Maria Felipa Sisneros, and Juanita Lobato, however, neither record lists his parents. I was puzzled that Antonio Maria Cordova would have come to the area, specifically San Pedro, CO, in the early 1870s without having any links here. My research has shown that most of the families who migrated to a particular area did so because they had family there already or were coming to settle down there with family in tow.
"Casila Olivas of San Acacio and Blanca, CO was an invaluable source of information in the quest to locate ancestors of the people in San Acacio. In discussing Jose Leon Medina with her, I asked about Jose Cordova who married her great-grandmother, Virginia Medina. My specific question was "do you know who Jose Cordova was? Her response was "Jose Cordova era hermano del el papa de Mano Clemente Cordova. "El papa" or the father of "Mano Clemente Cordova" was Antonio Maria Cordova, and the mother was Maria Felipa Sisneros. That interview with Casilda Olivas, sent me on a search for Jose Cordova, and a quest to fit the puzzle together. . Previously unidentified, he now fit into the picture of the Cordova's in San Acacio, based on Casilda's statement.
"I searched the Sangre de Cristo (San Luis, CO) baptismal and marriage records and found him listed as Jose Felix Cordova, with wife Virginia Medina, when their son Francisco Cordova married Lugardita Olivas in 1910. I'd previously found the marriage of Jose (without the name Felix) Cordova and Virginia Medina in the Sangre de Cristo Church, San Luis, CO marriage records. He was listed as the widower of Maria Dolores Sanchez. This previously ignored fact (widower of Maria Dolores Sanchez) then sent me on a search of the Arroyo Hondo and Taos marriage records. In the Taos Marriage book 41, Box 38, Frame 424, on 11 Apr 1852, I found the marriage of Jos Felix Cordoba and Maria Dolores Sanchez. They were residents of San Antonio del Rio Colorado (present day Questa, NM. The sponsors were Pedro Montoya & Maria Paula Cordova. The witnesses were Pablo Martinez and Jeorge Romero. Unfortunately, the parents of the couple were not listed, however, the names Maria Paul Cordova & Pedro Montoya were familiar.
The following CORDOVA information in my databse linked Jose Felis and Antonio Maria Cordova. The information, although not conclusive, indicates to me that Antonio Maria Cordova & Jose Felix Cordova did not come to San Pedro de la Culebra alone. They were related to the early settlers Julian Lucero who married Francisca Cordova, Jesus Maria Cordova who married Nieves Ortiz, Juan Bautista Cordova who married Quirina Sanchez, and many other relatives who were firmly settled in San Luis, San Pedro, El Rito de San Francisco Chama, and San Acacio."

Re: Spelling of Antonio's middle name: Note: In some databases, this ancestor is referred to as "Antonio ABAD" and in others as "Antonio ABAN." In the LDS database, for example, there are two separate entries, one for each spelling. Also, John Pena of the HGRC of NM told me that in the Tomas Martinez reference book, the spelling is "Antonio ABAN." Pena called me to ask about it when he was entering the data in the HGRC-NM database.

Godparents: Ygnacio Mestas & Francisca Mestas. Antonio Cordova, bap 21 Feb 1747, son of Gregorio Cordova and Barbara Casanga. Godparents: Salbador Medina and Casilda Mestas. Antonio Corova, bap 25 Jan 1750, parents unknown. Godparents: Juan Roque Cordova and Theresa Sandoval. Although I cannot tell you how these three Cordovas (Pablo, Gregorio, and Juan Roque) are related, my research as to the areas and their families have led me to that conclusion.

I had gone to the census bureau and found in the 1860's census. The Precinct of Rio Colorado Taos Territory Pg 138, on the 9th of July 1860 line 1240 it says Neposimo Armijo 30 married to Filomena Cordova 28 children Ofinian Armijo 5 Dolores Armijo 3 and Manuel Armijo 1. Living with them was Antonio Cordova 70 Jose Gregorio Cordova 18 Ascencion Cordova 21 and last was Abad Cordova 14. Do ypou think that this the Abad you were looking for? Let me know. Martha

I don't know of a brother raised by Torres. But I will ask my grandma, she may know something. Thank you for taking the time to look that marriage up. I think they were married between 1906 and 1909.

That 1900 census looks right for his age. I just don't know about the sister. And if Coldoro Montoya (brother in law) was from the Domingo Montoya family he is not listed in the 1910 census. Probably gone from the home at that age though.

According to LDS file Emilio Cordova and Aguada (Agatha) Montoya married 25 FEB 1909; Trinidad, Las Animas, Colorado. More than likely at Holy Trinity.
