It seems like you have hit several road blocks. My grandfather was Jose Dolores Cordova. He had a brother named Emilio. The family was from Walsenberg. Here is some quick infomation...let me know if any of this makes sense.

EMILIO CORDOVA was born May 09, 1896 in Walsenberg, CO. He married ROSARITO MARTINEZ. They had four children and last information I had they had moved to Northern NM near Raton. I do not have a John or Juan listed as one of their children, but as you know, often these children went by their middle names vice their first names. I do not know if he may have remarried.

Hi Frank and Doug, due to Doug's tip I looked in the 1880 census for New Mexico. I found the following. Don't know if this is the right couple , but it sure fits.

You are correct. Jose Dolores Cordova was the son of Juan Miguel Cordova and Maria Leonora Medina. He did have a brother named, Emilio. Juan Miguel Cordova was raised by his godfather, Juan de la Cruz Cordova, and eventually went by the name Cordova. He was actually born Juan Miguel Sandoval. All his children were baptized as Sandovals, but later they also carried the last name Cordova. We are related to the Cordovas through Juan Miguel Sandoval's grandmother.
