Hello
I was wondering if anyone could help me fill in the blanks. I know that my gggrandparents were Jose de Gracia Cordova, married to Juana Maria Martin. I would like to find out their parents. I think Jose de Gracia's father was Agapito, and Juana Maria's father was Pedro Antonio. I thought maybe Gloria or Dodie might have the info. Thank you in advance for any help.

Frank, here is a possibility:

There is a Pedro Antonio Martin born abt. 1823; Taos, NM; son of Jose Ygnacio Martin and Maria de la Luz Vigil married to Maria Paula Salasar that came to Trinidad with their children and is shown in the 1870 census under Pedro Antonio Martinos; HH #103. One of the twin daughters is Maria Juana, age 12, born abt. 1858. I do not have a spouse attached to Ma. Juana.

In my dabatabase, Juana Maria Martin is married to Jose Cordova:

MARRIAGE: GSHA publication Holy Trinity Marriages 1866-1884. p. 3-39. (vol. 1, p. 68, entry 3). 27 Sep 1872. Jose CORDUA [sic] from S. Francsico s/ Agapito CORDUA [sic] w/ Juana Maria Martin from Trinidad, d/ Pedro Antonio Martin. Padrinos: Quirino Abeyta & Donaciana Martin.

This "Jose Cordova" may be Jose de Gracia but the record did not name him as such.

Focusing on Padrinos to make the connection, Donaciana Martin married to Quirino Abeyta. Pedro Antonio Martin(ez) and Maria Paula *Salazar show a daughter named Donaciana Martinez in the 1860 Census.

I think your info sounds like it fits. However, in the 1860 census it says Paula Salazar and you wrote Maria Paula Sanchez. Was this just a typo, or do you think they were two different women? Thanks for the info.

Also, the ages don't make sense to me? It shows the mother age 20, and the eldest daughter 10?

Sorry Frank, I will correct - shld be Salazar. You can't always go by the ages shown in the census; sometimes the people didn't know their DOB. If you go by the 1920 census, Donaciana would have been born abt 1853 and her mother, Ma. Paula Salazar abt 1836.

Thanks a million, Dodie, for making this connection for me. I had the marriage record in my database but didn't realize that "Jose" Cordua was actually "Jose de Gracia." Also, previously I'd seen the marriage certif for Emilio as son of Agapito but had not made the connection that his father was the same Jose as Jose de Gracia.

Grateful for all you do for all of us in the genealogy community.
