Betty Jane Armstrong, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died April 13, 2009. She was born March 13, 1918, in Trinidad to Fred Armstrong and Vesta Coffelt Armstrong.
Betty was a graduate of Trinidad High School in 1936 and the University of Colorado in 1941 with further study at University of Wyoming and University of New Mexico. Betty was an elementary teacher for 29 years in Albuquerque.
She is a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, including Naomi Circle. Betty was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an educational honorary society, the Albuquerque Association of Educational Retirees, and San Marcial Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Dorothy Armstrong of Trinidad.
She is survived by a niece, Gail Mays (Jim) of Omaha, Neb., a nephew Donald Armstrong (Dawn) of Sioux Falls, S.D., along with several great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4.
