Looking for nice place for family reunion 2010

We want to have a family reunion in Colorado. Maybe near Trinidad, Close to fishing, picnic tables and also close to a hotel where some of us from out of town can stay. Looking for a place with not so much expense. Looked at some places near Fox Run in Castle Rock that look good, but they charge like $100. an hour, plus you can’t use any of their facilities without paying more. So far we have around 80 to 100 family members attending. A lot of them are passed 60 years of age so we don't what someplace that is to rugged to walk and we do need shade or a place that has covers over the picnic tables. Does anyone know of a place like this. We are planning the Reunion for July 10 and 11th 2010. Most of my family lived in Weston, Colorado, and we lived in Cokedale before moving to Denver, Colorado looking for jobs. Grandpa, Grandma, Mom & Dad are all buried in Weston, Colorado.
For the Velasquez, Vigil, Baca, Duran, Gallegos families living in Trinidad please know that you are invited to our family reunion as well. We are so looking forward to seeing you all. If you have any suggestions please let me know. My Baca side is as follows, Mom Rose Baca Velasquez, Nestor Baca her Dad, Basilisa Duran Baca, was Grandpa's wife. Their children are Flaudio Baca, Elvira Baca, Juanito Baca, Clotilde Baca, Pedro Ignacio Baca and Little Nestor Baca born 1915. Any children of these families please contace me at [email protected] and let me know if you can come to the family reunion. More information will be added soon.
    Thanks

Hello Frazies, Trinidad is a good place to have a reunion many places to go and see. You can rent the picnic are out at Round Up Park it has all facilities and covered barbeque area. I don't think it cost to much. Your family can go fishing or site seeing up highway 12 up to Weston and beyoned. There are many Hotels in the are now and great places to eat.

It is located on the Northside of town I believe on Linden street. It is nice has a covered area with barbeque pit and restroom facilities. It is wide open out there and even some people riding their horses when we were there over by the rodeo stadium. It is ran by the city of Trinidad, I will try and find out more info on it if I can. My wifes family has had several reunions out there it is real nice.

Are you planning on having any kind of formal dining I believe there are several places that can handle large parties of people. I think the restuarant out at the Golf course might be able to handle large parties also the quality Inn and several new hotels that I don't know the names of that have recently opened on the South side of town.

Hi Afrush, Thanks so much for the information on Round up Park. I will let my family know the info. We all like mexican food. Is there a restaurant that could accomadate around 100 people? My nephew is going to go see the park for me. He lives in Colorado Springs. We appreciate all your help.

That is a lot of people I don't know if there is a Mexican restuarant that would serve that many. The restuarant at the C&H (bueno's) is pretty big you might want to give them a call. In another post it is mentioned that the summer hours do have extend hours into the evenings on the weekend. Maybe one of the local Trinidad folks can supply more info. From what I understand there is a restuarant up highway 12 that has some good chili maybe someone can confirm the name and if it is any good. Sorry I am so vague on this but I am lucky if I visit once a year and my memory is not what it use to be. :(

Thanks so much Afrush, I live in Tallahassee, FL and I am trying to get a lot of stuff done from out of town. I have a nephew who lives in Colorado Springs so he and I are trying to get a place for all the old folks to go out to dinner at least one evening. I know they like Italian food too so maybe an Italian Restaurant would be good too. I lived in Cokedale, Colorado till I was about 13 and go back maybe once very 6 years so it all looks so different to me now. Most of my family lives in Denver, Colorado Springs and Alamosa now so I would love to have the reunion in Trinidad. Tnanks again for all your help.

Shirley, try contacting the Chamber of Commerce and see what info they can provide and maybe they can send you a packet.

Hello Frazies, the park is ran by Las Animas County Fairgrounds.

I know a great Italian restuarant but it is small called Nano Y Nanas. They use to cater so that might be an option although I don't know where you could get a facility to have a dinner catered. The restuarant is way to small for 100 people. Trinidad would be great because there are a lot of different things to do. Trinidad has a great publich 9 hole golf course and a new course called cougar canyon but I don't know if it is private or non memebers can play on it.
