    Alfalfa, CO San Isidro, CO

Does anyone know or know where I can find the location of a couple of small towns or locales in Las Animas county? I am looking to find Alfalfa, CO where my Dad was born and San Isidro, CO where my Grandmother was born. Thanks

The following information was given to me by Alice.

From the early 1900's City Directory

Alfalfa has a population of 200. A Post office 12 miles from Earl, the shipping point, and 25 miles west of Trinidad, the banking point. The Purgatorie River at this place furnishes power. Has a Catholic Church, general store and long distance telephone connection. Agriculture and stockraising are the chief industries.

    Gonzales, Eduardo, gen store
    Gonzales, Santos, rancher

Hey Anthony Sandoval,I know where Alfalfa is located. Can also give you a good idea of where San Isadoro is located.

Glenn Scott with the USGS put together a series of historic trails maps of Eastern Colorado and lists several sites for Alfalfa east of Trinidad. These sites are also in my book, Ghost Towns, Eastern Colorado. There are structures at two of the sites.
