Braulio P. Ortiz, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in Denver. He was born on March 30, 1924 to Telesforo and Panfilia (Padilla) Ortiz in Naranjtto, Puerto Rico.
He married Theresa Cordova in November of 1954 in New York. He was a farmer in Puerto Rico and worked as a cook in New York before working as a handyman, painter, plumber and electrician. He was a jack-of-all trades.
He was a wonderful son, brother, father and friend who loved life to the fullest. He was a great comedian and will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Salvador, Juan, Eladio, and Piano Ortiz, and sister, Carmen Ortiz.
He is survived by his wife Theresa, Denver; son Jesse (Miriam) Ortiz, Denver; daughters, Lilly (Felix) Ocasio, Aurora and Carmen (George) Tavares, Trinidad; brother Telesforo (Virginia) Ortiz, Puerto Rico; sister Alice Ortiz, New York; grandchildren Maria T. Ocasio, Daniel B. Ortiz, Sophia Tavares, Jesse C. Ortiz, Anna Ocasio and Alexandra Ortiz; great grand child Jayden Ortiz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Felix Ocasio, Jesse Ortiz, Geroge Tavares, David Ortiz, Bobby Romero and Fernando Cordova.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 23 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. A Rosary will be Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Melancon, S.J., as the celebrant. Interment will be at the St. Anthony's Cemetery in Aguilar.
