I am working on a project for the Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) to explore potential needs for MHYC services in anticipation of a new strategic plan to be developed in late 2010.

Modeled from the Civilian Conservation Corps of the '30's, MHYC is a non-profit organization that offers paid work experience, community service and educational activities to help youth develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, the workforce and everyday life. MHYC strives to meet the needs of a diverse community by offering year-round programs for out-of-school youth, summer programs for high school and college students and a GED program for high school drop-outs.

MHYC/Colorado Springs District serves a 7 county region consisting of Las Animas, Custer, Fremont, Huerfano, El Paso, Teller, and Pueblo counties by providing work crews in the areas of conservation and environment. MHYC also provides training and education services to the youth engaged in the program. You can learn more about MHYC at http://www.cllyc.org/

I hope to find several people who are willing to serve as key contacts in Las Animas County and who could help us identify participants in a survey we will be conducting shortly. I also hope that our key contacts in Las Animas and other counties can help us in introducing MHYC to these potential survey participants.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
