Folks,
I am trying to locate a copy of this article or at least the month or date in 1975 that it appeared in the Empire Magazine. I have started a search in the microfiche of the Denver Public Library but if I could narrow down the search I would greatly appreciate it! My father Paul Vigil and my Grandmother Matilda Coca were born in Vermejo Park, New Mexico and this article holds a significant aspect to my geneological research.

Here is the quote in Mr. Romero's book I am referring to...
"Another interesting story was written by Joseph Torres of Denver. It appeared in the Empire Magazine of the Denver Post in 1975. he wrote about the place of his birth and the home of his parents and paternal grandparents - "El Valle Redondo" (The Round Valley), later named Vermejo Park New Mexico. The title of his story is "Life of the Rancheros"

My cousin and I went to the Southeastern Colorado Heritage Museum in Pueblo and went to their library upstairs. I was able to photocopy El Valle de Los Rancheros by Jose Maria Romero. 201 W. B St. Pueblo, CO 295-1517
It took us a while to find anyone who knew what I was talking about, but there was a elderly man who worked upstairs in their small library who found what I was looking for. Originally, I found it several years ago on the Pueblo Chieftain website.
My interest lies in Torres, CO because my family is from there.
