Carmen Volturo, 77, passed away July 5, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
She was born in Trinidad July 16, 1932, to Pilar (Trujillo) and Frank Garcia.
On Jan. 31, 1959, Carmen was united in marriage to Jimmy V. Volturo.
She was employed as a dietitian aide for Mt. San Rafael Hospital for 32 years until her retirement.
Together with her husband, she enjoyed taking rides in the Segundo area so they could look at the beauty and wildlife. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at the family Sunday dinners.
Carmen liked to bake, crochet, knit and play Bingo. She also liked to gamble and go to Cripple Creek.
Preceding her in death are parents; husband, Jimmy; siblings, Don Garcia, Leo Garcia, Dorothy Romero, Isabel Strock; niece, Rose Ann Dorr; nephews, Louis Volturo, Jr., Leroy Hurt, and Larry Strock.
Survivors are children, Darlyne (Paul) Webster, Cheyenne, Wyo.; John Garcia, Trinidad; Jim (Roberta) Volturo, Trinidad; grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) Sears, Bobbie Jo (Marc) Giezen, Janelle (Chris) Jamison, John Frank Garcia, James Volturo, Jr.; great-grandson, Javier Garcia, Jess Garcia, John Garcia, Jr., Adrianna Garcia, Grant Giezen, Meredith Giezen; siblings, Mary Lou Hurt, Lebanon, Mo.; Theresa (Jesse) Rivas, Arvada; Stella Valdez, Denver; Frank (Daisy) Garcia, Pueblo West; Toni (Richie) Chrisman, Nev.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angelina Brown, Denver; Shiela Volturo, Trinidad; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday July 12, at Holy Trinity Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 13, at Holy Trinity Church.
Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are James Volturo, John Frank Garcia, Lester Valdez, Ted Cordova, Ted Menapace and Bill Volturo.
