Ernesto Jacobo "Jake" Maldonado passed away on Aug. 30, 2010, in Hesperia, Calif.
He was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Trinidad the first child of Joe Maldonado and Charlotte Olguin Maldonado.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte; nephew, Joshua Crist; cousin, Branden Sharp; paternal grandmother, Nora Maldonado; paternal grandfather, Mike Maldonado; maternal grandfather, Alex Olguin; maternal grandmother, Annie Olguin; aunts and uncles, Bernice, Celia, Julian, Zeke and Ernest; uncle, Leo Olguin.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Tina. They were united in marriage July 20, 1996, in Las Vegas, He is survived by their children and grandchildren, Jennifer, Vanessa, Gabriella and Mathew, Rhonda (Warren) Christian, Nikola and Sydney,and Chuck (Lorilyn) Burt, Justus, Hope and Hanna from Hesperia, his brothers, Ray Maldonado, Daniel (Jessica) Maldonado, Laray, Angelo, Francisco, Daniel, Jr. and Jacy of Trinidad; Alex (Tina) Maldonado, Andrea (Garrett), Kaiya and Noah of Longmont, his sisters, Jacqueline (Jaye) Christ, Siena and Remi, Mount Joy, Pa. and Jowanda (Ken) Campion and Jarhae, Denver.
Also survived by mother and father-in-law, Don and Donna Baxter, uncles and aunts, Richard (Carmen) Olguin, Pete (Sharon) Olguin, Dolores Olguin, Amelia (Harold) Sharp, Rose (Dale) Brant, Minnie Pacheco; brothers- in-law and sister-in-law, Frank (Emily), Michael (Linda), Richard (Rhonda) Maldonado, Marie (Tom Gutierrez) and Donna Olguin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends survive.
He attended school in Denver, later moving to Trinidad, attended and graduated from Trinidad High School in 1976 in Trinidad where he was very active m ROTC.
Upon graduation from high school he joined the US Army. He then returned home and attended college. He was a graduate of Trinidad State Junior College with a degree in welding and in building trades.
Upon his completion at TSJC he re-enrolled in the Army and later the National Guard, where he served until a few months ago. At the time of his passing he was employed at L3 Communications at Ft. Urwin Army Base in California.
Active pallbearers are Ray and Alex Maldonado, Alex and Darren Olguin, Christian and Nickolas Wilson.
Honorary casket escorts and Honor Guard will be the United States Army Honor Guard Unit from his National Guard Unit of Colton, Calif..
Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 12. Memorial Service was Sept. 13, at the Desert View Mortuary in Victorville, Calif.
Burial will be in the Desert View Cemetery with graveside services and full military graveside honors conducted by the Army National Guard.
