Susie Vigil died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in her home. She was 87 years young.

She was born June 9, 1923, in Trinidad, to Gabino and Virginia Martinez.

She married Lino Vigil in 1944.

She spent most of her life in Greeley. She worked several years at Hested's department store, before moving on to Kmart, where she worked until her retirement.

Susie managed many department areas, ending her career as pharmacist's assistant.

She made many lifelong friends. She was known by family and friends as a fun-loving, dependable and gracious woman. She was highly thought of by colleagues and overwhelmingly loved by family.

She is survived by her eldest son, Chuck Vigil and wife Margaret; five daughters, Vicky Valencia, Vi Valencia and husband Larry, Anita Montoya and husband Myk, Cindy Vigil and eldest daughter and caregiver, MaryAnn Vigil; five grandsons, Joe Montoya, Nick Vigil, Mike and Jerry Valencia and Eric Vigil; four granddaughters, Susie Vigil, Lee Ann Mangers, Carolyn Valencia and Amy Ortiz; and many loved great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gabino and Virginia Martinez; four brothers, Pete, Ben, Joe and Tony Martinez; and sister Alice Gallegos. She is also preceded in death by her two youngest sons, John and Rich Vigil; and son-in-law, Fred Valencia.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 915 12th St., Greeley CO 80631.
