The San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council is soliciting donations so that it can continue its environmental work. The council works with public land agencies and San Luis Valley nonprofit organizations and work groups and provides public policy recommendations for the Rio Grande Headwaters and San Luis Valley Basin to the New Mexico state line. The council recently inventoried almost 500,000 acres of the Rio Grande National Forest, and the information gathered will be used to help forest managers with travel management planning and to highlight areas that connect wildlife corridors. Membership is $25 for seniors and students and is $100 for friends of the council. For more information, call 589-1518.

Morey at the La Veta office for questions and to determine which species are still available before ordering. Landowners with two or more acres are eligible for the program. A $100,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold in Colorado for last Saturday night's Powerball drawing, and one ticket sold in Indiana matched all six numbers drawn in Saturday's drawing to win the $89 million jackpot. The winning numbers were 11-44-45-48 & 50, Powerball of 2 and power play of 3. Tickets that match the first 5 numbers but not the Powerball number win $100,000, and five of those were sold, including the one in Colorado. The prize goes to an estimated $10 million for tomorrow's drawing. And, no one matched all six numbers to win Saturday's Colorado Lottery jackpot. The jackpot for tomorrow's drawing now goes to an estimated $2 million.
