My Grandfather, Walter Kerr, was a Helmet man (Rescue) for CF&I Company. He lived and worked in Berwind and was killed in the rescue attempts at the Hastings Mine explosion in 1917.
Apparently he was the 121st person that died.
Are there any pictures of the people that worked in these mines?
The only picture we have is / was on his grave in Trinidad and it was while he was wearing his rescue equipment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
