Jose Santillanez, 94, died Jan. 25, 2012, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg.
He was born in Folsom, NM, to Teofilo and Petra Santillanez (deceased). He was married to Josephine Duran (deceased) in 1947 after serving in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. Jose was a telephone/telegraph lineman in the U.S. Army.
Jose is survived by a brother, Orlando, of Savannah, Ga., a sister, Benita Guzman, of Denver. and numerous nieces and nephews. Jose and Josephine were lifelong residents of the Trinidad area.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment took place at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012.
The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
