Lawrence H. “Larry” Williams, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Aurora.

Larry was born Feb. 24, 1924, to Bertha Greer and Jesse Williams. He grew up in Norris City, Ill., and proudly served his countyr in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp aircraft carrier during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Mary Theresa Guzzo on Dec. 23, 1951, at Holy Trinity Church in Trinidad.

Larry worked for Trinidad Municipal Power Plant and retired as chief engineer. He was a member of Trinidad Masonic Lodge No. 28.

Fishing was a favorite pastime for Larry, a kind and generous man who loved spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Jesse Williams, Bertha Mitchell and Elmer Mitchell; his brother Horace Williams; Roy Greer; and his sister Wanda Dillsworth.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Theresa Williams; his daughter, Kay Girodo; his son, Larry (Cindy) Williams; his granddaughters, Tressa (Bryan) Hanger, Tara (Danny) Gallardo, Courtney (Bryan) Nicholas; great grandchildren, Anthony Hanger, Dominic Hanger, Cameron Hanger, Gianna Hanger, Carmella Gallardo, Daniel Gallardo and Gemma Gallardo; his sister Juanita James; his brother Marian Mitchell; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Henry (Nancy) Guzzo, Rose Guzzo, Gene Guzzo and Mary Catherine Guzzo; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, and 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 13 at Comi Funeral Home Chapel.

A funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Comi with Liturgy of the Word with Brother Harry Gonzales officiating and Masonic Rights administered by Past Master Jim Thompson.

Interment will follow at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery with graveside services conducted by the United States Naval Honor Guard.

Active pallbearers are Larry Williams, Lance Barron, Jim Thompson, Bob Madrid, Smokey Guzzo and Bryan Nichols.
