Alfred Torres Sr., 82, of Raton, N.M., died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in Raton.
He was born April 13, 1929, in Cokedale to Joe and Lucille Torres.
Alfred, a retired miner and truck driver, was a member of the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Teamsters Union Local 170, a miner and devoted husband, and was a loving father, “grandpo” and “great grandpo,” as he was known to his family. He will be greatly missed in our hearts and lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Gonzales and brother Kenny Torres.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Dolores; two daughters, Stephanie L. Esquivel and husband Nash Jr. of Raton, and Valerie J. Navarro and husband Daniel of Adlanto, Calif.; five sons, Alfred Torres Jr. and wife Rosalie of Raton, Joe Torres and wife Lisa of San Pablo, Calif., Tony Torres of Rodeo, Calif., Kenny Torres of Manteca, Calif., and Eddy Corona of Vacaville, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel by Frank Cimino Jr. A memorial service and a reception at the VFW followed the service.
