Ethel Vigil, loaned to us by God and returned to Him on March 11, 2012, at the age of 92 years and 7 months. Born in Aguilar, Colo., to Silverio and Matilde Apodaca, along with 15 brothers and sisters. One sister survives, Mary Vigil, who lives in Denver.
In the early 1940s, Ethel sang beautifully and she, along with her sisters, Mary and Teresa, sang at various church events. At one of those events, she met John Vigil and married in 1943 and raised six sons, Tom (Silveria), Lloyd (Nora), John (Debra), Fred (Sharen), Don, Sam (Esther); and two daughters, Priscilla Rodriguez and Donna Wildenstein (Dave). Eighteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren survive.
One son, Dicky, was waiting for her in heaven, along with her husband, John, whom she sorely missed after his passing on Christmas Day, 2010.
She taught her children to harmonize in singing and in life. She always will be remembered for her sweet, gentle nature and special cooking skills as she shared with all who visited the family home.
Proverbs 20:6 (MSG) “GOD loyal people, living honest lives, make it much easier for their children.” Thank you, Mom. We honor you, and will miss you.
Special thanks to Kendra at Frontier Hospice, along with grandkids, Jeff and Dawn Jean Dowd and Yvonne Doria, for their loving nursing service.
Visitation, 3 to 6:30 p.m. today, Romero Chapel. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, Praise Assembly of God, 2000 Troy in Pueblo, Colo., officiated by their beloved Pastor, Bobby J. Wilson.
