Mary Skalko, 82, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Mt. San Rafael Hospital.
She was born March 6, 1930, in Trinidad to Angelina (Guadagnoli) and Joseph Ambrose.
Mary attended area schools and was a 1948 Trinidad High School graduate. She attended Trinidad State Junior College where she earned an associate’s degree in business.
She was united in marriage April 24, 1954, to John C. Skalko at Holy Trinity Church.
She worked several years for Dr. Donnelly and for Trinidad Industrial Bank before joining Trinidad National Bank as a secretary. She worked at the bank, also known as Community First and Bank of the West, for 26 years until her retirement.
Mary was an avid bowler and enjoyed trips to Cripple Creek. She was a top-notch cook and loved spending time with her family.,br>
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two infant sisters; her sister, Madeline (Frank) Vecchio; her brother, Lou (Louise) DiPaolo; her brother Carl DiPaolo; her brother-in-law, Ellis Hayhurst; and her nephew, Frank Vecchio.
She is survived by her sons, John (Paulette) and Carl, of Trinidad; her sister, Florence Hayhurst, of Foster City, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Violet DiPaolo, of Trinidad; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Visitation was from 2-7 p.m. Monday at Comi Funeral Home.
A Tuesday, June 26, funeral service will begin with a 9:15 a.m. rosary recitation at Comi Funeral Home Chapel followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church and interment at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Her pallbearers are Lou DiPaolo, Mike DiPaolo, Chris Fiorenzi, Mike Fiorenzi, David Vecchio and Mike Vecchio.
Arrangements have been made under the direction of Comi Funeral Home.
