Eralia Chavez, 94, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. She was born May 11, 1918, in Vigil to Anna (Trujillo) and Samuel Chavez.
She was united in marriage to Telesforo Chavez on Feb. 24, 1936, in Vigil.
Eralia was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking and watching her favorite soap operas, “All My Children” and “The Young and the Restless.” She also liked to watch Spanish telenovelas.
A devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother, Eralia loved life and caring for her family.
She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Margaret Chavez; her son-in-law, Abran Lovato; and her grandchildren: Abran Lovato, Kevin Lovato, Anthony Lovato, Bill Gurule, Joe Gurule and Joanie Gurule.
Eralia is survived by her children: Della Smith of Trinidad, Mary (Vincent) Gurule of Denver; Marie “Chris” (Bert) Gutierrez of Denver, Rosebella Lovato of Denver; Manuel Chavez of Trinidad, Connie Chavez of Taos, N.M., Louisa (Mark) Eichen of Trinidad, and Sam (Joey) Chavez of Trinidad.
She is alsos survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany, Tiara, Mario, Audrey, Jessica, Brandon, Raymond, Cheryl Lynn, Julie, Lori and Scott; nine great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives, especially Florence Sandoval and Elvira Torres who lovingly helped with her care.
Visitation and a rosary recitation were Monday.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Holy Trinity Church followed by interment at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Eralia’s pallbearers are Manuel Chavez, Sam Chavez, Bert Gutierrez, Ivo Quinhoes, Mario Chavez and Ben Aragon.
Arrangements have been made under the direction of Comi Funeral Home.
