FishingThis area of Southern Colorado has excellent fishing and not a lot of fishing pressure. Be sure to check out Trinidad Lake just west of Trinidad for a great fishing experience where you will find many different species such as trout, bass, blue gill, stripers, and many others. Monument Lake and North Lake, west of Trinidad and north of Stonewall, are beautiful high mountain lakes with camping available at Monument Lake and is fishable from the bank or small unmotorized boats. Be prepared to catch you limit almost any time. And be sure to take the trip into the San Isabel National Forest near Cuchara up to Bear and Blue Lake for a mountain setting that is unmatched and well worth the trip and also in the summer you can camp here too.
