Irma Marie Tombling

Irma Marie Tombling was born October 18, 1896, Rockville, Colorado.  She married Francis DeJong on September 27, 1915 in Trinidad.  Francis emigrated for The Netherlands, an artist he didn’t want to follow in his father’s career, who was a ship’s captain.  Francis initially came to Colorado as a member of Georgia Calvary, when Federal Troops were called in during the mine labor strike that culminated the Ludlow Massacre.  This quiet, gentle and aspiring young painter loved the Southwest.  His favorite subjects were the raw desert landscapes and Indian Portraiture.

Irma is living in Riverside, California.

Leonard Alfred Tombling was born to George and Lillian Tombling on May 20, 1901 in Pictou, Colorado.  He was a twin but, Cora died  October 2, 1901.  Leonard spent his school years in Trinidad.  He moved to Gunnison where he married Mryee Dollard on October 6, 1925.
