    After battling cancer for 6 years, Abraham (Rudy) Velasquez, 53, passed away Dec. 31, 2011, at his home in Weston.

    Rudy was born Jan. 12, 1958, to Donociano and Julia Velasquez whom both preceded him in death.

    He was lifelong resident of Weston. He was a 1976 graduate of Primero High School where he was active in all activities including football, basketball and baseball. He also received his degree from TSJC. Rudy was a coal miner having worked in the Elk and Golden Eagle Mines. He was a member of UMWA Local 9856.

    On May 21, 2001, Rudy was united in marriage to Debbie R. Aragon in Segundo.

    Rudy enjoyed spending time with his wife, watching his grandchildren play sports, hunting and working in his garage.

    Rudy is survived by his beloved wife Debbie Velasquez; six children: Trish Sanchez (Justin), Joe (Fran) Trujillo, Phillip (Kim) Velasquez, Gabriel Velasquez (Naomi), Richard (Crystal) Sanchez, and Jennifer (Anthony) Sanchez; siblings Anecandro (Lee) Velasquez, Roberta (Doug) Gibson and Donna (John) Burns; 19 grandchildren: Jussiah, Joseph, Kaven, Jasmine, Leanorah, Penelope, Olivia, Isabella, Xavier, Jeremiah, Antonio, Jasmine, Rio, Darius, Kieonna, Auden, Alysse, Maria, and Kourtney; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

    Visitation was 3-6 p.m. Thursday at Comi Funeral Home Chapel followed by a 7 p.m. rosary recitation at Holy Trinity Church.

    A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Holy Trinity Church.

    Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery.

    Honorary pallbearers are: Chaz Lopez, Wilbert Velasquez, Ernie Martinez, Leroy Velasquez, Rudy Mestas, Tom Sanchez, Jason Garcia, Alexandro Gerardo.

    Active pallbearers are Phillip Paulich, Max Mance, Larry Vallejos, Robert Garcia, Jerry Renner, John Aragon and Pat Mestas.

    The family may be contacted at the home addresses.

    Arrangements made under the direction of Comi Funeral Home.

    Our sincere condolences to the Velasquez family. Many fond memories of Rudolph along with Lee, Donna, Roberta, Uncle Dono and Aunt Julia.
