That is so cool.:)
I last saw the church when I visited Tdad last month, and I was
saddend by the condition.I hope that it will be renovated.Any
body remember the Mt carmel festivals that were held there?
Raymart and everyone - if you have pictures of inside or outside Mount Carmel Church or pictures of the festivals that Raymart mentioned, please post them.
That was my church, I went there every morning, sang in the choir, and attended those festivals.
Hello, My family is from Trinidad. My parents owned a bakery in Trinidad and all my brothers and sisters were born and raised there.
I was so excited to see about the renovation of Mt.Carmel Catholic Church. My twin sister and I were baptized at Mt.Carmel and both of our parents funerals were there. I am wondering if anyone might know where the items that were in the church might be. In particular, I would like to know what happened to the Stations of the Cross. My dads name was on the 12th station, Joe N. Sayed. Also, I remember my Aunt Zella talking about "The Festival" when we would visit on Memorial Day weekend. She was already getting ready for the July event. Good Ole Days.....Cheryl Sayed Shreve
I think it is wonderful that the church will be renovated. Mr. Cimino has done a lot for Trinidad. He also put up money for the new downtown park. I thought it was so sad when Mt. Carmel and St. Joseph churches stopped being used. Also, when Trinidad Catholic schools closed.
My Mother had bought a pitcure of one of the stations of the cross too, was babtized there, confirmed there, went to school there.
I loved those festivals and later ended up working them with my Dad because he supplied the Coke. Since we hung around there quite a bit we would end up eating the great Mexican food served there, yummmm.... Does anyone remember going into the Nuns quarters the convent in the back by the play ground?
my family were members of Mt. Carmel all of the time i lived in T'dad.. i made my First Communion and Confirmation there , i went to the school from 196o/69..my mother was even the president of the PTA at one time.lol
Fr.Mendrick was the pastor as long as i can remember.
[:I]but i don't remember "a music hall".we used to just practice up in the church chior loft.
is that the old Rectory they are talking about?
I left T'dad in 1980..
I remember The Convent, the Rectory , the School with the great cafeteria food and the Nuns(ohh). And the great festival with the games and wonderful Italian food, don't remeber the mexican food(sorry.lol)
i was sad to hear that the school closed, but was shocked to hear that MC Church closed.
I also didn't know that St. Joseph Church and Holy Trinity School was also closed.
Why all of the closings?
anybody have any info. about that?[:0]
