Isabel D. "Belle" Padilla, age 73, passed away at home on July 17, 2009. She was born in Hoehne, Colorado on August 26, 1935 to Dina (Padilla) and Cristoval Valdez. She attended school in Hoehne.
Belle was united in marriage to Robert Padilla in Trinidad, Colorado until his passing in 1978.
For many years she was a waitress at several local restaurants and then from 1990-1997 she owned and operated the El Paso Cafe. Isabel enjoyed reading, caring for her garden and dancing. She spent much of her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are parents, Dina and Cristoval Valdez; husband, Robert Padilla; brothers, Anthony Valdez, Alfred Valdez; sister, Mary Ann Ricks and son-in-law, Mike McCarver.
Survivors are children, Laura McCarver, Trinidad; Dina (John) Hathoot, Yorba Linda, Calif.; Robert (Lindsay) Padilla, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Linda (Tim) Montoya, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Mike (Melanie) Padilla, Aurora, Colo.; Gary (Susan) Padilla, Colo. Springs, Colo.; Paula (Carey Jones) David, Walsenburg, Colo.; Regina (Zak) Robinson, Trinidad; siblings John (Julia) Valdez, Raymond (Ruth) Valdez, Dolores Torres, Rosalie (George) Herrera, Chris (Joan) Valdez, Patrick (Margo) Valdez, Barbara Valdez-Martinez; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at First Christian Church with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
