Myra Jean Mestas of Trinidad passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. Myra was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. Myra was an accomplished chef in her younger years, and had great cooking talent. She also loved going fishing, riding in her truck, listening to her music especially Rod Stewart and especially enjoyed spending time with her two youngest nieces, Carley and Cydney. She was also employed as a residential counselor for disabled citizens’ she loved “her boys,” as she called them, and considered them more like her own children and second family. Myra was kind, compassionate, and genuinely devoted to her family and those she loved. Her smile, laughter and presence will truly be missed by her family and friends that new her.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Monico and Silveria Mestas, her grandmother, Ana Duran, whom she also considered her second mother, and never failed to keep her memory alive in all that she said and did. Myra is survived by her parents, Ben and Mary Mestas, of Trinidad: brother Chris (Gwendolyn) Mestas of Florence, Bonnie (Jim) Felthager of Trinidad, and Peach (Chris) Vigil of Trinidad, and nieces, Brenda, Brittany, Brianna, Carley, Cydney, Ashley and Dylan as well as two great nephews, Christopher and Alexzander; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Trinidad Seventh Day Adventist Church. Private burial will be held at a later date.
